Why visual similarity is not enough

Two lamp assemblies can look almost identical but use different mounting points, connectors, beam patterns or control modules. Accurate sourcing therefore depends on vehicle and market information, not a product photo alone.

For complete lamps, confirm left or right position, left-hand-drive or right-hand-drive beam requirements, light source, voltage and connector design. For bulbs, confirm the base, voltage, power, cooling format and vehicle compatibility.

Required information by product type

• Headlamp assembly: vehicle details, OE reference, left/right side, LHD/RHD, halogen/LED/projector format and module inclusion.
• Rear combination lamp: side, connector, LED or bulb type, and required tail, brake, turn and reverse functions.
• Fog or auxiliary lamp: beam function, mounting format, voltage, bracket requirements and road-use status.
• Replacement bulb: base type, voltage, tested power, color temperature, cooling design and CANbus requirement.
• Truck and utility lamp: 12 V or 24 V, spot/flood beam, surface or bracket mounting, and road-use or work-use application.

Compliance must match the destination market

Ask for the exact approval scope and product marking required by the importing market. A test report should identify the applicant, model, standard and covered product; a generic certificate image is not sufficient.

Keep road-approved lighting separate from off-road work lights in product pages, quotations and packaging. This reduces the risk of selling a work-use lamp as a road-legal replacement.
