Chassis Parts OE Fitment and Quality Checklist
What importers should confirm when sourcing control arms, wheel hubs, steering linkage, sway bars and adjustable suspension parts.
Published and reviewed by Vantus Auto Parts · Updated July 25, 2026Build a position-specific application record
Chassis parts should be identified by vehicle, production period, chassis code and installation position. Front/rear and left/right differences must be explicit. For wheel hubs, confirm driven or non-driven position, flange geometry, ABS encoder and stud configuration.
For control arms and steering linkage, compare mounting points, thread dimensions, ball-joint orientation, bushing layout and included hardware. An OE number is the starting point, but drawings and sample comparison reduce ambiguity when references supersede or overlap.
Material and construction questions
- Is the part stamped steel, forged steel or aluminum?
- Are bushings and ball joints pre-installed?
- What surface coating or corrosion protection is applied?
- Are fasteners, spacers, brackets or grease fittings included?
- For adjustable parts, what is the adjustment range and locking method?
- For wheel hubs, what ABS signal and bearing generation are required?
Separate replacement parts from performance upgrades
Standard replacement components should emphasize OE-equivalent geometry and installation. Adjustable arms, reinforcement braces, sway bars and end links require additional information about vehicle ride height, suspension setup, intended use and installation hardware.
Performance products should not be described as universal unless the mounting geometry and adjustment range truly support the stated application. Vehicle-specific installation notes reduce returns and technical disputes.
Pre-shipment quality checks
- Part number, application and installation position
- Critical dimensions and mounting geometry
- Joint movement, boot condition and bushing installation
- Thread protection and included hardware
- Surface finish and corrosion protection
- ABS encoder and connector where applicable
- Product label, carton label and quantity
